The Culinary Arts Program at Granada Hills Charter High School consists of training in industry standards, food safety and culinary fundamentals.  Advanced Students may access competition and scholarships as well as opportunities in real world application of skills.

Foods Nutrition: Chef Assistant

In this year-long course,  students develop practical skills in the planning, purchase and preparation of nutritious meals.  Students practice safe working habits and study basic concepts of nutrition.  All students are ServeSafe Certified which provides access to entry level food service jobs.

Culinary Arts: Catering and Advanced Culinary Arts

This full-year advanced program is designed to develop the skills needed for entry-level positions in the food service industry. Successful graduates qualify as catering assistants, institutional and  restaurant apprentice cooks, and positions that  require first-hand knowledge and experience in food service. 

Students are exposed to “prep” cooking, presentation, and storage and handling in all food categories.  Students are also exposed to business concepts in assessing profit margins, marketing products, cost analysis as well as  creating products.  Students operate a small catering business  to simulate a business operation and management experience. All students are provided access to be ServeSafe Certified. Advanced students may compete in CCAP for scholarships and other culinary arts competitions as they arise.

Pending articulation agreements with Los Angeles Mission College and College of the Canyons.
