Don’t let the name fool you! Although this course takes place in the Heart of Granada Hills, it is a mostly level course!

You must pick up your race bib and participant information prior to race day. They will be available on Thursday April 27 from 3:30-5:00 p.m. or Friday April 28 from 6:00-8:00 in front of the GHCHS gym.

Do I have to be an amazing runner?

Nope! Runners and walkers of all skill levels are welcome to participate. We just ask that you follow running etiquette and if you are slower, stay to the right to allow your faster friends the opportunity to get by you.

Is this a timed event?
The 1st Annual Heart of the Hills 5k is a community fun run, so there will be no official timing.

Can I run with my dog?
Unfortunately, animals will not be allowed to participate in this run. While we do love animals, they are not permitted in our football stadium, and our stadium is the home of our finish line and finish line festival. You human and animal friends are welcome to cheer you on along the course!

Are strollers allowed?
Yes! We encourage whole-family participation but we strongly recommend starting in the back of the pack with our walking friends for the safety of your little ones and your fellow participants. Jogging strollers are also recommended. The course sticks to paved roads and sidewalks, but the course runs through Old Granada and though beautiful, also has large trees and tree roots, so the terrain may be a bit bumpy in some spots.

Can I participate in my wheelchair?
Absolutely! Note that motorized wheelchairs will not be allowed and if you choose to be pushed by a helpful friend or family member, you both must be registered. Please be advised that although not steep, there ARE inclines and declines in this course, as well as some unlevel terrain, as explained above. It strongly recommended that you have some prior road racing experience, and better yet, an athletic wheelchair.

Do my children need to be registered?
If your children are under age 5 at the time of the race and will be sitting in a stroller, they do not need their own registration. Anyone who is planning on participating in the run will need a registration, signed waiver, and bib in order to participate and receive participant benefits.

What is included in my registration?
Each participant’s registration includes a commemorative t-shirt, race bib, and finisher’s medal.

Can my friends and family join me at the Finish Line Festival?
Definitely! The more, the merrier! Community participation is our goal!

Will the race still take place Rain or shine?
Yes, unless there are major weather warnings that deem the race unsafe.

Something has come up, can I get a refund?
We know life happens, but unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds at this time. But rest easy knowing that you have made a donation to your local community high school, and the student body appreciates you!
