Physics and Energy Conservation at GHC

GHC physics students are learning how to save the world one kilowatt at a time! This year, the class is focusing on water and energy conservation. Here students are learning about how energy is captured by model wind turbines and using a cloud-based virtual modeling application. GHC Physics classes are also using colors and patterns to learn about energy conservation. These infrared cameras show heat given off by electrical devices. Devices that give off a lot of heat are generally less efficient and cost more to operate. A student also conducts a self-designed experiment in which she investigates the pattern between the frequency that a metal plate oscillates and the and the patterns in the sand that result. Pretty cool! #SaveEnergyLA #LADWPinthecommunity
